Video consultations show protective effects in people with dementia and their caregivers

The benefits of video telehealth consultations over telephone calls, both for people with dementia and for their caregivers, has been demonstrated in a 4-week study.

At AAIC 2021, Professor Frank Lai from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, in Hong Kong, China, presented findings on the protective impact of video telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To investigate whether telehealth via video conference, using commonly available mobile apps, could minimize the possible negative effects of social distancing measures in place during the pandemic, Prof. Lai and colleagues conducted a 4-week study.
