  • A 6-month aerobic exercise intervention is linked to improvements in cognitive and cerebrovascular function in the generally healthy low-active middle aged to older adult population.

Why this matters

    Exercise has been shown to have a plethora of beneficial effects on brain health, and some studies have investigated the effects of exercise on cerebral blood flow. Nonetheless, no study has examined the effects of a 6-month aerobic intervention on cognition and cerebrovascular function where cerebral blood flow is measured using transcranial doppler ultrasound (TCD).
